My Items Disappear from the Cart, or I Can't Stay Signed In
Posted by Adam Lefever on 26 January 2012 01:33 PM

This is a quick guide to a solution for a number of problems some of our customers have had in the past, including:

1) The store may say you're signed in when you're not, or vice-versa.
2) Your basket will suddenly disappear.
3) You are asked to sign in repeatedly.
4) When signing in, your items disappear from the cart.
5) You cannot update your account.

These problems often happen with Internet Explorer (and/or AOL's version of Internet Explorer) and has to do with "cookies", but not the tasty kind.  Below is a quick explanation and steps you can take that will usually alleviate these problems; feel free to skip ahead to the numbered list below if you'd like.

Cookies Explained
Our site, like most e-commerce stores, installs a "cookie" on your Web browser.  This cookie is a small file that contains information so we can ensure your items are saved in the shopping basket or keep you signed in as you shop.

Your Internet Browser (ie, Internet Explorer) stores this tidbit of information on our PC to make these things happen.  While this file is replaced most of the time each time you shop, sometimes the browser finds the older file and gets confused; it uses an outdated cookie, which will conflicts with your shopping and causes strange things to happen like those mentioned above.

How to Flush Cookies
The bright side is this: it takes only a minute or two to fix most of these problems, or at least narrow the cause.  Here's what to do:

1) Click "Tools" on the menu bar, or click the little "Settings" gear-shaped icon at the top of the page:

2) Choose "Internet Options".

3) A popup will appear with multiple tabs.  Click the "General" tab if necessary.

4) Under "Browsing History" hit the button that says "Delete..."

5) Check the box for "Cookies" along with any other data that you may want to remove.  Uncheck the boxes for anything you do not wish to remove.

6) Click "Delete" (as seen above)

7) When finished, click "OK" on the Internet Options pop-up to close it.

8) Restart Internet Explorer and return to http://www.stlmedical.com

This should help flush out any old files that your computer may be using.   If you followed these steps and seem to still have these issues with using the Website, please contact us via phone or email so we can assist you with getting your order placed.

Thank you!
